Top Tips for Selling on Poshmark in 2022, Part 4: Feed the Poshmark Algorithm by Sharing, Relisting, and Listing New Items

Before we begin, let's acknowledge that there's a lot of confusion about what platform activities you should spend time on for driving sales Poshmark. Let's quickly clear the air about what's NOT helpful:
Not Helpful: Sharing Other People's Closets on Poshmark or Trying to Get Them to Share Yours
There's no discernable gain for doing this, and frankly, I find the notifications that people have shared my closet really annoying. Stop wasting your time on this, even if you're using a sharing tool. Resellers who rely on Poshmark for a large portion of their income will back me up on this.
Not Helpful: Following People on Poshmark or Trying to Get Followers
Poshmark markets itself as a social app, but there's really no reason to be social on it, from a selling perspective. Buyers will find your items regardless of whether you're popular if you're listing with lots of details and sharing frequently. Again, there's more anecdotal evidence to back me up on this in various Reddit threads.
Phew, now that that's out of the way, let's talk about what makes a difference:
Helpful: Optimizing Your Listings with Great Keywords
Poshmark is a search platform. Are you including the necessary information to help people find you? And remember, that includes the whole web. Lots of folks can find your listings straight from Google (yet another reason why sharing and following nonsense doesn't have much to do with making sales).
Helpful: Sharing Your Own Closet Frequently
Most users searches on Poshmark are automatically sorted by "Just Shared." That means if you never share your items, they'll be dead last on the page (or even several pages deep) for users' searches. Poshmark just built a tool for sharing several items at a time, but ClosetWitch has one a Google Chrome Extension to share your whole Poshmark closet at a time, in minutes, for free. Check it out in the Google Chrome Store.
Helpful: Listing New Items Frequently
Ever notice that you get more traffic to your closet after listing new items? Us too. The algorithm is a bit of a mystery on Poshmark, but it's clear that there's something about fresh items in your closet that boosts activity.
Helpful: Relisting Old Items Frequently
Listing old items from scratch is a great way to give them a fresh chance of being found, because many users search by "just in," and relisting items resets this date. But there's a catch: if you use Poshmark's "copy listing" feature to make a new listing of an existing item in your closet, it won't reset this date unless the item is at least 60 days old. So be sure to start from scratch. Or use our tool!
Helpful: Responding to Comments, Sending Offers, and Responding to Offers from Potential Buyers
This is the activity that really counts on Poshmark. Make sure you're answering questions from likers in a timely manner (they're likely motivated buyers!), and counter rather than ignore low offers. And make sure you're pricing items with some padding so you can send offers: this is a great way to give likers that extra push to purchase. Timing matters here though; would you respond more favorably to a salesperson coming up to you in a store to let you know the item you're looking at is on sale, or to a coupon that arrives in the mail a week after you were shopping there? Our ProLite tool lets you specifically target likers from the last 24 hours so you're sending timely deals and not missing anyone.
